Marilyn Wines, a division of Nova Wines, Inc., Oakville, California, produced The Velvet Collection, a limited edition Napa Valley wine the label of which featured the original photograph of a nude Marilyn Monroe against a background of red velvet, taken by Tom Kelley in 1949, which became the Centerfold of the first issue of Playboy magazine in 1953. A clear vinyl overlay with areas of iridescent sparkles provided the requisite degree of modesty and could be peeled back and off (or pressed back into place) after the wine was purchased.
